    Default John Weetham Wathes RFC & RAF

    He was born in the Shardlow area of Derbyshire in 1899 and was one of the 1st persons to work for the MG Car Cpy in Oxfordshire, he later raced MG's at Brooklands. W.W. 1 he flew with the R.F.C. He mrd Phyllis I. Evans at Cheltenham in 1933 and in W.W. 2 flew with Bomber Command. Came to Pembrokeshire and ran the Jolly Sailor at Burton, retired circa 1979 and returned to Oxfordshire was buried at Stanton Harcourt in 1983/4.
    I would like to find out more about his flying career.

    There's a possible RAF service record for him here, if you don't have it already? But I think it would only cover 1918-19.

    For WW2, there are a few notices for him in the London Gazette, mostly as J. W. WATHES.

    I had tried all combinations except just initials, so thanks for that. It now appears he did not fly during W.W. 2 but was ground crew.
