    Default Finding threads

I know a thread exists, from googling it, but how do I find it when I am logged in?

    George.

If it is a thread that you have posted in yourself go to Quick Links in the blue bar at the top of each page and in the dropdown box that appears click on subscribed threads to see a list of all threads in which you have posted.

Otherwise, if you found it from googling just try to do the same thing again and you should find it. Can you remember the thread title or the name of a person mentioned? If so enter it into the Forum search box. If you still have no joy give us a few details and we'll see if we can find it for you.

The link via Google should be like this - http://www.british-genealogy.com/for...ommended-Books and will show you where in the forum it is - in this case "recommended Books"

Yes, I can refind it with google, but then I need to log in to reply and loose it in the process. I can't just google and then reply, can I?

I will try to find the thread title by googling, and then login to look for it. Is that a good idea?

    George.

Just to add a point, George. Once you are logged on you can google for the thread you found earlier and when you click on the link to it you will still be logged on and will be able to post in the thread in the same way as if you had found it by just searching the forum. Presumably, when you found it before, you had not registered so would have been unable to post but you should be able to now.

Yes, but if you checked the box for the forum to remember you the chances are you can post straight away. If there is no box at the top of the page asking you to sign in you're ready to go.
