    If Maud Matilda ANDREWS is the nursling that Lizzy found in 1881, here's a possible ANDREWS family for her in that census ...

    1881 census
    RG11/5484 folio 16 page 13
    Caersws, Llanwnog, Montgomeryshire
    William ANDREWS Head Mar 40 Sergt Major M. J.(?)* Cavalry (Yeomanry) born Essex Littlebury
    Louisia ANDREWS Wife Mar 32 ditto Wife born Scotland
    Loettia(?) Lousia ANDREWS Daur Unm 2 born Kent Canterbury

    One reason why this ANDREWS family caught my eye is that there is an ASTLEY family just a few doors away (same census page). The family looking after Mary M. (aka Tilly?) ANDREWS in 1881 is also called ASTLEY (reference above in post #9)

    It's only a possibility, and you would need the birth certificate to confirm. The one found by Pam in post #6 looks good.

    * EDIT: perhaps M. Y. = Montgomeryshire Yeomanry ?

    OH MY WORD !! - Thank you all so much for your help - all of these references in your posts have some connection (I am sure of that !!) - I am currently in rural west wales (hence the delay in acknowledging your most helpful posts) I am meeting with family and visiting as many cemetries as I can in the time available. Although as I said in my original post these are not direct ancestors - "their" history just adds interest to my "Tree/History" - again, thank you all so much for your time in helping me. I'm sorry I can't acknowledge/thank you all individually - but I really appreciate your help.
