Thank You

I can’t see a birth as yet but there is this which may give some clues:
Augusta Norah A French married Herbert Peter Spicer in Warwick RD, March Q 1891.

Not all births prior to 1874 were registered.
What I find intriguing is that Augusta doesn't show up on either the 1871 or 1881 census.
If the 1891 marriage Malcolm found is correct then in 1891 her age is 27, born Westminster, and in 1911 is consistent (if not entirely truthful!) with her now being aged 47, born Westminster.
What were her parent's names, and her father's occupation?

I’ve been looking at the 1871 Census Piece 121 fol.97 p.48 where there is a Norah A.G. French born about 1862 in Westminster.
It’s a large family but the youngest son is Victor E.G. aged 2, born Westminster. There is a marriage in Aston, Warwickshire June Q 1890 for a Victor Ernest T French – which makes a neat connection with Augusta having been married in Warwickshire in 1891.
Needs a lot more work though & I haven’t had any luck as yet making a Warwickshire connection with others in the family.
Possibly a complete red herring but it has some possibilities.

Humph, no wonder I couldn't find her in 1871. Ancestry's indexing says Franch, birthplace has been abbreviated by the enumerator to Westr, etc, etc.
Good find, Malcolm, and it must be the same person as the address in 1871, Vincent Square, is given as part of Augusta Spicer's birthplace in 1911.

Random info.
1911 census Patrick Claude French has two sons Oscar Claude and Albert Victor both born in Warwickshire.
There's also a daughter Norah (Not born Warwickshire.)

This should be the proof as hopefully the parents' names and father's occupation tie in with the baptism certificate.
1861
Living in Vincent Square.
RG9/49 folio 123 page 21
William French, 34, outfitter, Cheltenham, Glos
Elizabeth, 29, Doncaster, Yorks
Florence. 11, Hammersmith

Father's occupation is similar to that of several of the children when they get older.

That's excellent - except when I saw "outfitter from Cheltenham" bells started ringing and lo & behold...https://www.british-genealogy.com/for...william+french
