My Great, Great, Grandmother, Ellen Turner, was born in Bollin Fee, Cheshire, on May 8, 1819. She was the mother of my great grandfather Levi Turner, who was born March 25, 1841, in Wilmslow (Bollin Fee), Cheshire. I recently obtained a copy of Levi's Birth Certificate and discovered that his father of record was a farmer named Samuel Webb.
I have no information concerning Samuel Webb, other than a possible match to a Christening date of May 19, 1822, in Wilmslow, for a person of that name in the Family Search database (Ref. Cheshire Bishop's Transcripts Image #201, Digital Folder #4011921, Film #1836382).
Obviously, this was a significant event in my family's history, since Levi and his descendents should have carried forward the surname Webb, rather than Turner. Thus, I would be very interested in hearing from anyone that may be able to assist me in this matter.

There is this Samuel WEBB who is a Farmer in the 1841 census of Wilmslow:
HO107/115/6, folio 21, page 7
Pownall Hall Farm
Samuel WEBB 58 Farmer
Martha do 50
Joseph do 27 Ag Lab
Elizabeth do 18
Charlotte do 16
All born in the county. By the 1851 census, Samuel, Martha, Charlotte and grandson Samuel have moved to Eaton in Cheshire and he is shown as a Farmer of 7 acres born c1785 at Cheadle, Cheshire. I can't find him on the 1861 census, so he may well have died by then.

Janet:
Thank you for taking the time to research this for me. I was previously aware of these census records concerning a Samuel Webb born c1785, through my research for my family tree on Ancestry.com. It is entirely possible that this was indeed Levi's father, since Ellen was 22 and Samuel would have been about 55. Obviously, I would prefer to uncover information that was a little more conclusive, but I may have to be satisfied with the probability of this being his father absent additional corroboration.
I have more questions than answers as to why this event in my family history was lost or buried in the weeds. I wonder whether my father actually knew who his great grandfather was? If he did, he never mentioned it. As for my Grandfather Frederick Wilde Turner, well he died when I was very young and so he didn't have the opportunity to share his family history with me.
Thanks you again for your help.
Regards,
Allan

If this is the Samuel you are looking for, there`s a possibility that Martha , his mother , was Martha Cooper -marriage on 4th april 1782 to John Webb in the same parish .....needs confirming - have a look on the CPRDb site ......allan

The Samuel I have posted is buried aged 45 on 29th feb 1844 in the same village - Great Warford , Cheshire ...so ...try and find a Samuel Webb aged around ( has a 5 year leeway in the 1841 census ) 41 in Great Warford in the 1841 census....hopefully a farmer ...if you can - this may be your Samuel ....fingers crossed......29th february record...first time I have actually seen one ...lol........allan
