Thank you to all on this forum, and especially Peter Goodey and Kerrywood. Due to Peter, I decided to look for a will for one of my Hale ancestors on the National Archives website and found a will for Henry Hale (my direct ancestor) in 1655. Kerrywood helped me figure out the name of a piece of land he had bequeathed, which led to two other wills in that place, of a Henry and a John Hale. Googling, I found an inquisition of the probate of the latter Henry Hale. From that I have found out that Henry is the brother of my earliest known direct ancestor John, the uncle of the earlier Henry (and thus my distant uncle), and the names of two other brothers (Thomas and William, where they were living), and the names of their sons (both called John).
Who knows, maybe I can find further generations back.
And I couldn't have done it without your help![]()

That was a great result for you and is an example of what brilliant members we have. That's why Brit-Gen is such a terrific Forum because there's always someone else with the necessary expertise to show us the way and point us in the right direction.
Here's wishing you continued success in putting all the pieces together and taking your tree even further back.

T@nya,
I'm so pleased to hear of the help you've received from Kerrywood and Peter Goodey. They have both helped me too in the past, and it's members like them which make Brit-Gen a fantastic family history forum.
Brit-Gen has so many well informed members who selflessly give their time to help others.
Well done Kerrywood, Peter Goodey, and Brit-Gen.'Friends are the family we choose for ourselves'.
