Hello
I am hoping that some kind person could look up the details of this trial for me.
Mary Hill and Caroline Hill were tried 31 January 1833 for assaulting Rebecca Southcott at St Philip and St Jacob [Bristol] (with Caroline Hill). The result of the trial: fined 6d and 13/- costs, or one calendar month in Lawford's Gate House of Correction.
I'd like to know where they were living and their age: it's one more step in working out which of two possible set of parents is Mary's.

The quarter sessions records are held at Gloucestershire Archives, in Gloucester.
The full document reference for the item you've found is Q/PC/2/52/C17 (from Gloucestershire Archives online catalogue).
But this is simply a memorandum of convictions, which is unlikely to have the information you're seeking. You need to find out if the sessions rolls themselves survive for that date, and whether they include any indictments or depositions (witness statements).
Your best bet is to contact the archives and ask them exactly what quarter sessions records they have that may help you with this case. This sort of general enquiry is normally answered free of charge.

Got a reply already. Unfortunately, the record officer can't help me and told me to try the Bristol Record Office instead. Next email sent (and fingers crossed).

Sorry about that. The document you were quoting (Q/PC/2/52/C17) is at Gloucestershire Archives. But it seems the full sessions rolls are at the BRO. Let's hope they can help you.

That's okay.
Still waiting for a reply back from them. I'm tearing my hair out about these two Hill families.
