GRACE HANSON NEE HART 1861-1926

This post identifies the ancestry of Grace Hart 1861-1926 who married William Henry Hanson 1856-1927. Grace died 6 November 1926 105 Park Street Collingwood Victoria Australia. There are several family trees which contain details of her marriage and children but none provide full details of her family origins which derive from two Anglo Jewish families the Hart and Crawcour. Grace was the youngest daughter of Aaron Henry Hart 1809- 7 March 1887 and Ann Rebecca Crawcour 1821-1 Dec 1867 ( my 3x great grandparents). Grace emigrated to Australia and married William Henry Hanson.
Aaron's parents were Henry Hart boot maker 90 Leman St died pre 1841 census and Phoebe Myers 1786-14 April 1869. Henry's father was Jacob Tsebi Hirsch. Phoebe's parents were Jacob Myers and Eve ? Eve died 1844 age 91 at 62 Leman Street
Henry and Phoebe were married Hambro Synagogue 7 Feb 1808. Their children included: John; Aaron;Bella; Moss;Napthali;Julia; Sarah;Caroline;Leah. The family were living in 1841 at 62 Leman Street and in 1851 at 156 Houndsditch.
The siblings of Grace were: Amelia; Ann; Phoebe;Henry;Eve; Gertrude;Flora; Rosina; Napthali Asher;Bernard
Phoebe, Henry,Rosina, Bernard emigrated to Australia.

Rebecca's father was David Crawcour dentist of 14 Windsor Place City Road ( see the numerous postings on the Crawcour lines on this site). The Crawcour name ( not Croker on Grace's death certificate) was derived from Cracow Poland

Nb There is another son named as an executor in the will of his father Aaron Hart who died in 1887 - this son is named as Arthur Robert. He maybe Samuel or Napthali assumimg different names.

The Australian Death Certificate of Grace Hanson nee Hart for the District of Collingwood Victoria dated 6 Nov 1926 105 Park Street City of Collingwood records her age as 65 and cause of death carcinoma of the stomach to hernia and cardiac failure- 4 mths and 1 and a half hours. Her parents are named as Henry Aaron Hart Boot manufacturer and mother Rebecca Croker ( Nb The names are in fact incorrect- her mother's maiden name was CRAWCOUR and her father Aaron Henry Hart). The informant was her son Percy Hanson 34 Fitzroy St Fitzroy. Grace's birth address was Kennington Oval Surrey England ( see 1861 census for confirmation). It was recorded as unknown how long Grace had been in Australia however, The NSW Australia Assisted Immigrant Passenger list 1828-1896 records Grace Hart age 23 single woman domestic born Middx religion J ( Jewish?). Literacy- able to read or write Yes. Ship SS Cambodia arrival date 4 April 1884. Another records indicates her working for Mrs Goldsmidt with a number 31. This appears to be her sister Phoebe Hart who was married to Albert Aaron Goldsmid ( the Goldsmid family had also emigtrated as assisted passengers to NSW arriving 5 Nov 1877 on the Star of India).
Grace was married in Queensland to William Henry Hanson at the age of 25. Their children were: William 35;Albert dead; Grace dead;Walter dead; Percy 26;Rebecca 22;Joseph 20.
