    Default Hampshire Directories

I should be grateful if someone with easy access to any pre-war Hampshire directory could let me know if there is any reference to LEONARD HELYEAR later than 31 Mar 1924 on which date he registered the death of Sarah Tanner (my grandmother's sister-in-law), describing himself as adopted son and living at "Hillside", Botley.

He was said to have been born in Yeovil in 1895, though no birth registration has been found, but had spent most of his life with members of the Tanner family, formerly of Ringwood. Sarah's son John Leonard had emigrated to Queensland in 1914, and her daughter Cecily had died in 1918.

He had been apprenticed to a butcher in Botley, and is probably the Pivate Leonard Helyear, Labour Corps (Army No 189494) awarded 2 medals after WW1.

Thanks for any help you can give, FredP.
