I am trying to find out where my great grandfather Pierre Joseph Newville was married to Maria Eugenia. Their daughter Madeleine and eldest son George Alfred Pierre were born in India as per the copy attached (reference to George only as I could not find Madeleine's details either). No details on his parents. Please could you help me. This is the copy I took from my search at the LDS familysearch website.

Hi Hazel1 and welcome to the forum

Following on from olliecat's excellent discovery of the marriage with the surname spelled NEUVILLE, I see that the FIBIS database at
http://
search.fibis.org/frontis/bin/index.php
has these two birth announcements from the Times of India:
26 Mar 1875
'March 19th at Kishenaghur the wife of Mr PJ Neuville Executive Engineer of a daughter'
5 June 1876
'May 31st at Calcutta, the wife of PJ Neuville esq, of a son'
There's also this London Gazette notice of 1915 giving his name as Pierre Joseph NEUVILLE:

I see that Pierre and his family are living in Lewisham in 1891. Pierre is with his children but his wife is not present (he says he is married.) There is a younger child Fernand born in France around 1879. You probably have all this already so I won't post the details; it's just that I was just looking for his wife. I see that by 1901 Pierre is recorded as a widower.

It was bugging me that I could not find Pierre in 1911 but I have him now, enumerated under the name of Peter NEWVILLE and living in the Bournemouth district with two of his children, Madeleine and Fernand.

Oh Boy I am getting no where. I have gone into every option via GRO Consular Marriages and various ways in google but just cannot get to the marriage notice of Pierre Joseph and Marie Eugenie Labanhie. It is just so frustrating. Once I get that I will be able to - HOPEFULLY - move on as I MIGHT have their parents names. It is just so interesting. The thing is that I am VERY new at this on the internet. France is SO big that it is broken down into areas which does not help either. I REALLY appreciate your help.

You can order the marriage certificate through the GRO and a standard order will cost £9.25. You will first need to create to an account. Then go to the certificate ordering page and tick option 8 - Marriage Certificate (Overseas events). Scroll down and for the "Is the GRO Index Reference Number known?" question tick the YES box. Then below this type in the year (type in any year between 1871-1875, say 1872) and then click submit.
On the next page you will be asked for details of the marriage which you can copy from post #2 – names, volume, page number etc.
Good luck and do let us know how you get on.
