I have found a death for a Vandervelden in Devon. I would really like to find his birth as it will give me a clue to his family, through the name of his mother.
Graham Vandervelden's death was registered in Exmouth, Devon June Q 1946 Volume No:5C Page No:252.
I can find no sign of his birth in the previous year anywhere in England. His death registration shows that he was less than 1 year old at the time of his death.
I would like to try to locate any missing branches of my family and I'm hoping that this may be a clue.

Do you mean Exmoor, Devon June Q 1946 Volume No:5C Page No:252.
A birth for you in the same year as his death...
Birth Jun 1946 Exmoor 5C 308
VANDERVOLDEN, Graham
(Note: Surname is VANDERVELDEN on FreeBMD)
Mother's maiden name: NEWMAN
I couldn't see a marriage in Devon between a VANDERVELDEN and a NEWMAN (or variants of these surnames.) The only one I could find was a marriage in 1941 in the Rugby district in Warwickshire. I did not use FreeBMD to look for a marriage but if you go there you will be able to find the 1941 marriage.

There seem to be two other little boys born to this couple, one in Taunton (1947) and one in Bedford (1951). Why I think they may be related is because the maiden name of the mother for the first is given as NORMAN and the second is NEWMAN, while for the Graham under discussion the name has been given as NOWNAN.

Thank you very much. It would be so helpful if at least one lot of them could settle on the same spelling for the same family.we have every combination of Von/Van Der/Den Velden/Delden/Volden/Velden, and that can be amongst the original 11 children!
And of course, that doesn't include the effect of a myriad of transcribers.
Not that I can say too much about transcriptions, Olliecat, you are quite right, Exmoor!
As the mother's name and Devon are new to my records, I'll file it away in case there is a link.
Thank you again for your help.

well, that was a short lived file. Percy certainly is one of mine!
Thanks again everyone for making sure I got the right message eventually.
