Default Yeovil. South Petherton. Martock newspapers

    Morning all,

I'm searching for the names of newspapers that would have been available in 1936 for the areas in and around Yeovil, in particular South Petherton and Matlock. Would anyone be able to help me with this? I don't live in the area but I'm hoping (fingers crossed tightly) to get hold of copies from the beginning of that year somehow.

    Many thanks
    Browneyes

SORRY THAT SHOULD READ MARTOCK NOT MATLOCK.

Yo kid! Hope that you are keeping well!

According to the Briish Library Newspaper Catalogue, The Langport & Somerton Herald and General Advertiser should be the newspaper that you are after. It could be worth contacting the Somerset Records Office to see if they have the article(s) that you are after:

You could also try the local studies library in Yeovil.

The Western Gazette might be a good one to try as well - it's one of the oldest titles in the area and is based in Yeovil.
