    Default WW1 uniform identification, please

This is Stanley George Vaughan, my Great Uncle, born 1897, died 1954.

Can anyone advise what his uniform is? I'm assuming army as a starter?

The picture is a photocopy of the original photo which I do not have, so there are no clues on the back.

Did he by any chance marry during the war? If so, his marriage certificate may specify his regiment.

As it happens he did marry in August 1916, but no mention of his regiment. His Rank or Profession is "Coal Miner".

looking at it blown up it is very like the Welsh Regiments cap badge. uniform itself is standard ww1 1ssue. request WW1cap badges on google, you will find a comparison site. also the fact he was a coal miner coupled with your proximaty to the welsh border, gives some indication. always assuming the family are from that area.

Enlarging the photograph the cap badge appears to be a fleur de lis. Could he have joined a Welsh related regiment? (ie Prince of Wales)
