Um, just hope other people are having more success than me.
By pure luck, I've found one person I'm interested in as part of my 'one name collection'.
My cousin has two people who married in Liverpool in 1853, and then in the 1861 UK census have a 6-year old son born in New York State. So I enter a name, year of arrival 1853 - and get arrivals in any year except 1853. (Ditto if I enter 1854.)
I also a link and access to the Criminal Registers 1791-1892 for England and Wales.
Enter just the name and departure Liverpool, and I get, for example, departure Kingston Jamaica and Hong Kong.
Bizarre just does not describe it.

Where are they?
Could someone point me in the right direction to find these records on Ancestry, please? Looked on .co.uk & on .com & couldn't find anything free...

Just go to Search tab and in the drop-down menu you'll find Immigration & Travel - then just start searching. The 'free' bit is that there's no block on people who haven't got one of their more expensive subscriptions.

If you use .co.uk, make sure you tick the box which says 'Include databases originating outside the UK'.
Added: That way you'll include stuff like US Naturalization records 1795-1972 which are so informative.
Otherwise just use .com.
