Hi Christina and welcome to the forum

A trades directory (such as Kelly's directory) for the 1920s would tell you what schools there were in Shrewsbury in the 1920s/30s. It may be worth checking the UK directories section of Ancestry to see if it includes such a directory for Shropshire.
Some school records may have been deposited at the relevant county record office, i.e. Shropshire Archives. They have a general guide to school records on their website at
http://www.
shropshire.gov.uk/archives.nsf/viewAttachments/KALK-8HED2N/$file/09-school-records.pdf
but don't seem to have an online list of their school records. Their own online catalogue wasn't working when
I tried it earlier today. However, the Access to Archives (A2A) website has catalogue descriptions of some Shrewsbury school records held by Shropshire Archives. Go to the 'advanced search' page of A2A, then in the
'all these words' box type shrewsbury school and then select Shropshire Archives from the list under the heading 'Repository'. This gives very many results! For example, there are admission registers and log books
for St Michael's Street Boys' School for the period you're interested in.
The staff at Shropshire Archives have a research service (details on their website). You may find it cheaper to hire a freelance researcher living in that area.
P.S. oh, I also meant to say that some schools have retained their own archives.

Hello Christina
If you can tell us which street your family were living in then we might be able to suggest the most likely school.
