I have now received the 1899 death certificate for Caroline Green dying in Lambeth so thought an update might be useful. This is my Caroline as it confirms her as the widow of John Green, a carpenter. I feel foolish now for having been distracted by the 1901 and 1905 deaths as a result of thinking I'd found her in the 1901 census - a lesson learnt!

The cause of death for Caroline was hemiplegia (a weakness on one side of the body - often a form of cerebral paly) which is something I know a little about as my daughter has congential hemiplegia. I think Caroline's hemiplegia may have been acquired as a result of an illness or stroke and the word "asthenia" is also used which would more or less describe the same symptoms as hemiplegia. And, she died in the workhouse infirmary in Brook Street so I have something else to research and add to her biography now although her home address is still quoted as that of the 1891 census so I believe that was just a matter of being in hospital. Very satisfying - thank you all for your contributions.
