I S.K.S. can assist, I'll forward details by private message.

    Hi Colin

I don't think it's you: the site was down earlier this afternoon. It seems to be functioning normally again now.
    If you go to

    http://www.
    london-gazette.co.uk/search-by-number

you can put in the issue number and search word(s). Good luck!

Seems to be working for me, too!

Are you using IE as a browser?

Was there anything in particular you were looking for?

    Hi Kevin
Yes I am using IE as my browser.

As for what another person found and sent me details of, this was what made me unhappy. The refernce related to a solicitor that was insolvent in 1995. I have since found that trustees in bankrupty negtiated a settlement with the 'non-preferential' creditos in 2010.

What would be interesting would be to find out what happened to the estates in trust at the time [1995] that had not been distributed. Do these stay for ever and a day with the trustees in bankrutcy, or are these swallowed up in some way after period of time and no longer claimable?

I suggest you ask on the Usenet group uk.legal.moderated where you will find practising legal beagles (among others). There is an unmoderated uk.legal as well, but it's usually advised to avoid it.

    Chris.
I am sceptical of using such a service. Has anyone here used it?

I would rather leave well alone, than be a victim of identity theft

It's not a service - it's a discussion group such as this but without joining formalities. I use many Usenet groups such as soc.genealogy.britain.

How on earth would anyone steal your identity on such a group?

Use the Google groups interface, if you don't want to set up a Usenet reader. You need to quote an email address. I can't remeber if google requires a valid one but presumably you have some throw-away email accounts for similar purposes. Go to groups.google.com and enter uk.legal.moderated in the search box.
