Default Royal Air Force POW Records

    Hi there,

I hope someone can help me. I am trying to research an H.A. Jones, I am not quite sure yet how he fit into my family tree. I found a picture of H.A. Jones in one of the family photo albumns and it gives underneath the photograph a number 909217. A.C.2. Would this be his service number? He was a POW in the Second World War as I have a booklet called The Royal Air Force School for Prisioners of War, Stalag Luft VI, Germany in which he is named as Lecturer.

If anyone could help me in rearching H.A. Jones I would be much appreciated.

    Regards

    Ryan

    Ryan,

Your man very likely completed a PoW questionnaire form upon his repatriation to Britain in 1945. These forms survive and are held at The National Archive at Kew, London.

The relevant file for a search for H A Jones is:

    WO 344/166 JONES F - JONES L

The WO 344 series of files is arranged in two sections - one for PoWs of the Germans/Italians and the other PoWs of the Japanese. Files within those series are arranged in alphabetical order by surname.
