Hi,
What time frame does your query relate to? Are you asking if the child was officially adopted by the new husband?Doug

It would also be useful if we were given an idea as to the country the adoption might have taken place in.

Prior to the adoption act of 1926 there weren't any legal procedures in place with regard to adoption. If a child was adopted it was an informal affair where they would quite literally be handed over by one person to another.
As Mutley says we can't help you unless you give us some information about the person you are trying to trace, the reasons why you think they were adopted and how you arrived at this person (eg are they a parent of someone you have traced using all the records available).
I'm afraid that no-one can give you an answer to what might have happened to someone who may have been adopted somewhere in England. We really do need more information.
