    Your absolutely right. I do need the marriage certificate but when it arrives it will probably say Father: Thomas Occupation: Coal miner and Thomas may or may not be Samuel.
    So I need to eliminate the Samuel if he is not Thomas as notanotherminer suggests. (Appropriate name)

    I thought I had the marriage certificate when Coromandel asked for it
    but I haven't and will order it in a couple of weeks.
    I'll let you know when it arrives.
