    Default Robert Bertram James

Hello, does anyone know how I can find out about a relative born 1820 in North Shields, I have exhausted the usual lines everyone tries but nothing, I would love to find his parents and where he actually lived,
    thanks again from John

    Hi John
You have exhausted the usual lines. So have you traced Robert through the census.
Perhaps you can give us a census reference so that we can get on track.
Do you have a marriage ?
    Children?
    Siblings?
    Occupation?

Hi John and welcome to Brit-Gen?

I have moved your thread to General Family History Queries where it will hopefully attract more attention than it would if left in Problems Navigating Brit-Gen.

Don't worry, you've done nothing wrong, it's what us moderators are here for.

When you say you've tried all the "usual lines" what were these? Have you checked all census returns from 1841 onwards? Which sources did you use to look for a baptism, marriage or death?

If you post his details I'm sure our members would be happy to take a look and see what they can find. It sometimes helps to start with an ancestor more recent in time and then work back, for instance from one of his children, if he is a direct ancestor.

The more information you can give, the greater the chances of tracing him back and hopefully discovering his parentage.

1841: HO107; Piece 517; Book: 9; Folio: 28; Page: 19 (crown copyright, care of the TNA)

    Is this his marriage?

    groom's name: Robert James
    bride's name: Betsy Barker
    marriage date: 23 Sep 1841
    marriage place: Prescot, Lancashire, England
    groom's father's name: John James

    I can add 1861: RG09: Piece:2751: Folio:58: Page:45
Where Betsey is a widow so Robert b1820 died between 1856 and the 1861 census.

Yes mate , thank you very much, I know Robert was living with Betsey and her parents for a period but then he seems to dissappear.
in the next census. Is it possible to pin point his actual birth place, town or street ? Can his birth parents be confirmed, I tried to make an educated guess as to his mother, Where abouts did they marry (Live) both there bmd, what did dad do for a living. How can I find out where Robert Bertram James was buried. Im sorry so many questions.

    Thanks again.
    John

Yes that is correct that is what I have, I have there children, even his son becoming head of the household Benjamin, it is difficult for me to get the right mum & dad and even there BMD.
I would like to know exactly what his dads occupation was.
    Thanks again
