I think the title says exactly what I'm looking for, however in addition to that - what would their duties consist of and was any remuneration provided? The time period would be from about the early 1700's to the 1830's or possibly a bit later and involved several generations of the same family
Thanks for any assistance

I don't know, but Mr Google does!
- Go to Google Books
- Search for churchwardens "parish law"
- Click on 'full view' only
- Take your pick!
Parish law: or, a guide to justices of the peace, ministers, churchwardens..., by Joseph Shaw (1753)
Directions to Church-wardens for the Faithful Discharge of their Duty, by Humphrey Prideaux (7th edition, 1805)
A Practical Treatise on the Duties of Churchwardens, by R. B. Anderdon (1824)
The Handy Book of Parish Law, by W. A. Holdsworth (1859)
