Default Some new Cornwall PRs online at Family Search

Some parish registers for Cornwall have been added to Family Search: England, Cornwall Parish Registers, 1538-1900
(They appear to be mainly marriage records)

    Hope someone finds this useful

Thanks for posting the information Ronone.

I just took 4 parishes at random and they were all post 1837 marriages. That's great news for anyone with Cornish ancestors because it could save them a fortune in marriage certificates. Now's the time to print off the records for those rellies that you wouldn't normally buy certificates for.

The advice I'd give is to try and find a transcribed record and then use the date and place to find the original marriage entry.

Didn't they put a whole load of Cornish records on there last year and then take them off after a couple of weeks?

    Thanks RonOne,
I'm itching to get onto this, but my computer, bless it isn't as up to date as it should be and needs Flash which my 64bit can't cope with. What the? I wish technology was sooo much simpler . I will have to drag myself up to date ....again!

The Cornish records that were up last year were there for 2 or 3 months, during which time I printed off about 75 of the things. They weren't indexed though, it was browse only so I had to know what I was looking for. The Cornish OPC site was very useful for that. I think those records are now indexed but the images are not available due, if I recall, to some kind of copyright issue?

The year range has been extended and some cemetery and burial registers have now been added

Dear RonOne---Well, I learned something today.
At first I was puzzled, for how can one surpass the ease-of-use and valuable (albeit transcribed) records as found on the CON-OPC database,
    http://www.cornwall-opc-database.org/search-database/

I had not realized scans of original parish registers were on familysearch other than the limited IGI transcriptions. Trying the site you posted, I was surprised to see the actual title page of the register eventually load. Investigating which other counties might be scanned, I found this helpful chart on:
    http://www.parishrecordsonline.org.uk/
listing Cheshire, Cornwall, Durham, East & North & West Riding (Yorks), Lancashire, and Norfolk also available (NOTE: I am trusting their table and did not try each of these on familysearch.) It will be a simple matter to periodically check this site to see if/when more counties are added.
It solves (for Cornwall, anyway) a current problem of trying to complete a particularly lucrative microfilm at the LDS Centre without renewing or trying to force my schedule to their ‘open’ hours.
Thank you for posting the site,
    Yeates

The URL has changed again. The last update was on the 27 October.

If this link doesn't work, you can get to the Cornwall images by going to the main Family Search site at: https://www.familysearch.org/

Under 'Browse by Location' click Europe

Then scroll down the list (or enter Cornwall in the search box) and click:
    "England, Cornwall Parish Registers, 1538-2010"
