    Default Thomas Boulter of Leicester

Am researching Thomas Boulter, born 1795 in the Leicester area -- christened in Thrussington. Sometime before 1823 he emigrated to New Brunswick, Canada, where he married Sarah Davis/Davies, from Wales. He was serving in His Majesty's 74th Regiment in Fredericton at the time of his marriage.

I believe his parents were named George and Frances/Fanny. (I also think there may have been an earlier son born about 1792, also named Thomas, who died before the one I'm looking for.)

Is anyone doing any research on this family line possibly?

    Ann

Hi Ann. I was amazed to find your post. I could have written one exactly like it! I am descended from Thomas's daughter Phoebe, who married Neil MacKinnon in New Brunswick. I just borrowed microfilm from the Canadian Natl Archives with the 74th Regt info on it, and I'm waiting for some land petition/grant documents which I ordered from the Archives in New Brunswick. After seeing the military record, I'm now certain that our Thomas is the Thomas born to George & Frances in Thrussington. Would enjoy exchanging info. This is my first time on this forum. Does it give you my email address? -Gayle

    Hi gayle1947

I think that I'm correct that your email addresses are not available to other ordinary members of the forum to protect you from spam and other more malicious forms of hacking. I suggest that you use the PM facility of the forum to contact intaglio privately. Good luck with your searches

I have a William Boulter born abt 1813 in Sileby LEIC which is about 2 or 3 miles west of Thrussington. My GGG grand aunt Rebekah Topley married William Boulter. You can find them on the census.

    Default Thomas Boulter of Leicester

    Bob,

Haven't been able to establish any siblings for Thomas yet, and I think there were a number of Boulters in the Leicester/Thrussington area, but maybe at some point a connection between William and Thomas might show up. Thank you for passing along the information.

    Default Thomas Boulter of Leicester

    "Terrysfamily"

Thank you so much for the records from Holy Trinity! There is the whole family of their children listed, which is SO helpful. I see that Thomas did indeed have a brother named William, although not the William that Bob mentioned.

Thank you again for your valuable assistance. It will help to flesh out this line of our family more thoroughly!

    Best,
    Ann

    Hi Ann,

The baptisms I supplied above were from the FreeReg site

freereg.org.uk (just put www. In front)

I have found a further daughter on ‘familysearch’. It is an extracted record not privately submitted.

    Thrussington, Leicester

Frances F Baptism Date 10 Dec 1797 - Daughter of George and Frances Boulter
indexing project (batch) number: C05584-1, source film number: 594970

Bob, I have found a couple of children baptised in St Mary, Sileby, Leicestershire on FreeReg around the time you mention.

George M Baptism Date 30 Apr 1807 – Son of George and Mary Boulter
Elizabeth F Baptism Date 02 Apr 1809 – Daughter of George and Mary Boulter

Maybe your William was the son of George and Mary Boulter

Just found an extracted record on ‘familysearch’ which tends to confirm my hypothesis.

    William Boulter, Male
baptism/christening date: 01 Feb 1813, Saint Mary, Sileby, Leicester
    Father: George Boulter, Mother: Mary
indexing project (batch) number: C03479-2, source film number: 595774

    Hope these help

    Terry

Thank you very much again, Terry. I'm not that experienced yet and haven't managed to find all the research sites out there. I appreciate your assistance immensely.

I second Bob's good wishes for a Happy New Year!

    Best,
    Ann
