    Default Sprusom's Island - Wapping?

A friend of mine has found a baptism on Ancestry of Margaret & Thomazin, daughter of John BROADY & Thomazin on 29 Nov 1806 at (and this is the question) where is Sprusom's Island ?

Googling it finds Prusom's Island and some references to other baptisms of other families in the same area.

Can some of you clever so & so's pin point this 'Island'??? And is it even an island? Thanks :-))

    Anne

the baptism was at St George in the East

Not an island at all, I'm afraid. Prusom's Island was a narrow street running north-west off Wapping High Street, linking the High Street with the eastern end of Cinnamon Street. Now called Hilliards Court (London E1).

The name Prusoms Island apparently survives in a warehouse block, a listed building on Wapping High Street now converted into dwellings. Lots more information if you google.

Thanks Kerrywood, you have confirmed what I suspected............this was an Irish family and my friend did wonder if that this referred to his Irish home!
