Hi there,
Wondered if anyone would be willing to do a search for me as I'm getting stuck as to where else to look.
I have been looking on websites and Google for a baptism record, but no luck so far.
It is for: Albert Allsop born 28 June 1896 in Belper, Derbyshire. Mother Lydia.
I'm trying to locate his baptism in the hope it will state his father's name.
Thanks for anyone who will help. Lynn![]()

Hi Lynn,
Just had a look on FamilySearch and found three of his namesakes (but not him)!
Next, I Googled "Churches in Belper" and got this...
http://www.google.co.uk/
#hl=en&xhr=t&q=churches+in+belper&cp=16&pf=p&sclie nt=psy&rlz=1W1SUNC_en&source=hp&aq=0&aqi=&aql=&oq= churches+in+belp&pbx=1&bav=on.2,or.r_gc.r_pw.&fp=2 2157933aa0f08cd&biw=1366&bih=641
The contact details of the churches are there, which might take a great deal of your time! Have you any idea which religious faith he followed? That would narrow the search a little.

Hi Josie,
Had a look and found Albert was Wesleyan faith by his military records. The registration district of his birth was Belper, sub district Horsley. The birth certificate states he was born 28 June 1896 Denby, Derbyshire.
Hope this helps further.
Thanks Lynn

I think you need to contact the Derbyshire Records Office in Matlock to assist with this, they hold the parish registers for most of the county.
Denby is only a stones throw away from Belper.Neil

Hi Lynn,
Just found the "Belper-Research" website, but all the baptisms recorded are much earlier than 1896!
Hopefully one of our members will have access to/can direct you to later records.
Sorry I had nothing positive to offer!

Thanks Josie and Neil for your help. I have sent an email to Derbyshire records office in the hope that they can find something for me. Will let you know how I get on ok.
