Back row from L to R Flo Emma Amy Daisy. Front Row Bob and Ju at a New Zealand Railway station
From L to R Daisy Bob and Ju at a Wedding.
Some members of the family no names mentioned.
Jun and Bob with Grandchildren
Someone used to write to my Great Aunt EthelAnnie Burrluck/Whiffen and they also sent them a food parcel every Christmas with a whole Lamb to share with the family. I just about remember it coming in the late 1960's early 70s. My gran told us it was a cousin. Apparently the family that emmigrated to New Zealand started off working in the mines then had a sheep farm/station. On the back of one photo it had the name of the photo printers, Wybon Photographers, 21 Maria Place, Wanganui New Zealand.
I feel sure that this was happening round the 1940s and Ju and Bob had a house built in 1946. Letter have not survived as we do not know what happened to them. hence no address or where they were.
I am very much hoping that someone some where knows these people.
thank you in advance for looking.
Angie

Photo No 3: "Some members of the family no names mentioned".
The man standing, third from the left wearing a tie with a stripe - bears a strong resemblance to a chap I knew in the 1960s in Wellington, Frank 'Scratch' Eagles.
He would be about the right age, but it could be a coincidence - just like the Elvis double crouching down at the front!

Yes It did occur to me that Elvis may of snuck in there too. Thank you for sharing that about the chap at the back but I'm affraid the name does not help me at all. Do you know anythingelse about the chap you knew. It is Bob and Ju that I am hoping to find. We think that Ju is short for Julia as we seem to have more photos of them than anybody else. I thought if I put up the group photo someone may know soneone and points us towards Ju and Bob.
Many thanks for you input though.

In the first photo there's what looks like a war memorial in the background. Perhaps this could be the key to identifying the location?
L.T. Wakelin could be Leopold Tocker Wakelin of Hunterville who was killed in action 1918:

(a marriage announcement on Papers Past, I think in 1912, says he was a railway clerk)

I see where you are coming from Coromandel, but this could be a place they were visiting and not come from there.
I don't really Know. I don't have a surname for these people only that the cousin surname maybe a Grigsby or a Hunt that was b in Marden area Kent England. I know that we have Grigsby relatives in New Zealand but they emmigrated alot earlier. We know that the cousin that went sometime in early 1900 as my Great gran parents were going with them but got cold feet at the last minute and my Gran and her sister knew the cousin before they went.
Oh this is so frustrating. I am searching for other Family tree forum on here trying to find their decendents and putting the same photos up in the hope. any other suggestions would be grately apprieciated. It has just ocurred to me that they must have been asked before 1923 as my great grand father was killed in a push bike accident.

Is that a Ford Anglia in photo 4? The group at the station were probably coming from or going to that wedding as they wear the same clothes.
New Zealand censuses have a Henry Whiffen 1885-1886 at Waipawa, Hawkes Bay
Henry Whiffen 1905-1906 at Ashburton-Canterbury & 1928 Temuka Canterbury.
Perhaps he's a relative?
Have you looked at online N Z BMDs which may offer a clue with names?Happy Families

Looking at the first photo Amy and Daisy look very similar, could they possibly be sisters ? Could all of the woman in the back row be the daughters of Bob and Ju ?
In photo 3 it could possibly be Amy or Daisy in the white dress in the front row, a wedding dress ? Could it be Ju behind her wearing glasses and a dark coloured dress ? Following on from this could the woman in the spotted dress in the middle row be Amy ?

Hi there, can't help, but my two cents for what it's worth... does the picture caption say railway station ? Many of these Honours Boards are in country halls and list men that served. Men killed in action or sometimes described as ultimate sacrifice are often designated with an asterisk. I am thinking this is a list of NZ Rail employees that served from a particular area. This looks like a family group in the same hall as the reception. The photo edge looks 1960's. The car is a late 40's to 50's but I think the photo is '60's. Typical farm house with water caught from roof and a stock proof fence.
Hunterville is on the main trunk rail line which goes north to Taihape. The is a road link to Hunterville from Wanganui.
Cheers.
