Default Bernard H POTTER - Birmingham

I am trying to trace the carreer of Bernard H POTTEr who was a police constable on both the 1891 & 1901 Censuses - in Birmingham. Can someone please tell me where I can find records of policemen in Birmingham during that time?

The Birmingham Daily Post has a dozen + articles referring to a "Police Constable Potter" - given name never stated. In one he is described as stationed in Little Bromwich (1891) and in another his Police Number is mentioned - 84 D.

    A possibility?

I don't think so. Little Bromwich is/was an area generally between Bordesley Green and Stechford, roughly where the Heartlands Hospital now stands. The area was then, and is indeed now again, part of D Division of what was Birmingham City and now West Midlands Police.

Whereas Bernard Potter lived more to the West of the City in what is now generally termed Ladywood, and it would have been unlikely that he would travel such a distance on a daily basis. It would be more likely that he would have been stationed either in the City Centre or at Dudley Road P.S.

The last time I looked, the Museum was based at Sparkhill P.S.
