Big thank you to B-G forum! While the Royal Archives can't find Hercules in their records, Milly Cat and I have been swapping lots of info and as 5th cousins, spent the day with each other at National Archives a couple of weeks ago! We plan to remain in touch and meet again - perhaps with mothers in tow.
I think that's what you'd call a success!
