Having just looked at the Mummy/Mum Thread I thought that I'd look at some translations in other languages. When I typed in Mum it asked whether I meant Mom? A number of search engines do something similar on lots of topics. So why isn't there a big button that says NO, or even better
"No, I *$£%* didn't"?
Rant over, back to the garden.

I longed for the same button when I first started using Word, and every time I typed "Dear Sir" that annoying paper clip would pop up and ask if I wanted help writing a letter. Fortunately I eventually found the menu to turn it off before I smashed the screen.
The other thing that annoys me is that whenever I send a text message to my son and I sign it "Mum", the predictive text automatically comes up with "Nun" as the first choice. I told my son that I would have thought Mum was more common than Nun and should therefore be first choice, and he explained that the program would probably expect "Mom" and that lots of kids would text Nun as a short version of None. Oh yes, and when you type the date - 24th April 2011 - that little window comes up telling you to press ENTER to get 2011-04-24. If I wanted my date to be back to front I would have typed it in that way to start with! Most annoying.
Sadly, our dear friend Dorothy (alias Thomasin) passed away on Sunday, 17th. February, 2013.
