Hi,

I have found a marriage for a maybe ancestor, I have the reference details

William Albert Griffith
registration quarter and year: Jul - Sep 1899
volume number: 2
page number: 261
digital folder number: 4195895

How can I find out who he married? Do I have to order the film!!?

Hi Chris

This looks like an entry not from the IGI, but from one of the databases on the new-look version of the FamilySearch site, namely the Irish Civil Registration index. The marriage was registered in the Sligo district.

I'm afraid I haven't discovered a way to find out the spouse*, so I look forward to hearing from other members if this can be done.
*apart from sending off for a copy of the marriage certificate

Where did you get the reference from please? I can't find anything that matches any of those details. A general search for William Griffith(s) marriage doesn't turn up anything between 1895 and 1900 either.

The same place, year, quarter, vol and page number is evident on both of these. However, I have no idea if there is more than one marriage per vol/page number (as per England/Wales marriage indexes)

Safest way to find out who William married is to order a copy of his marriage certificate.

The 1901 census for Ireland only returns one result for Sligo.
