Default Frederick Tyrrill Westbrook-b Croydon abt1887

I'm looking for my wife's grandfather Frederick Tyrill Westbrook who was born abt 1887 in Sutton, Near Croydon. I believe that his father was Tyrell (Tyrill) Westbrook and his mother Mary Ann (maiden name unknown). In the 1911 census Frederick Tyrill Westbrook was living near Epsom where he worked in a mental hospital. He married Edith Fincham abt 1908/9

    Thanks for any help

    Hi there,

The birth certificate should provide Frederick's mother's maiden name:

June quarter, 1888, Epsom District, volume 2a, page 8

Actually recorded with all 3 names: Frederick Tyrill WESTBROOK

It's interesting that Frederick's daughter Elizabeth appears to be using another surname in 1911.

    1911: RG14/2929 SN94

In 1861 there is an Elizabeth Gates at RG9/704 f122 p18
She seems a little young to be the daughter of William & Sarah Gates as enumerated, could she be the daughter of Sarah jnr later to become Elizabeth Westbrook ?

Thanks Jan and Graham for your help. The information that you both sent will be of enormous help in my research of the Westbrook line. Greatly appreciated.
