I have just discovered I descend from Thomas (1653-1730) and Mary (1653-1728) Inns. They had a son called Stephen who married Susan Crisp (of Adstock) in 1729. Their daughter, Susannah (born 1737) married Benjamin Adams in Thornborough in 1761. I wonder if anyone knows anything of the Inns or Crisp families? Thank you

Inns family
Thank you Fiona & Graham. Sorry Fiona, but unfamiliar with LDS site? And thank you for slotting me into the correct area Graham (some old people shouldn't be let loose on web and I am one). According to the info I have received Thomas & Mary wed in c.1685 and they then produced 11 children, the last in 1711. Stephen born 1703. Thomas left a will dated 1729 but most to his first son, William, and no mention of Stephen at all, which is why I am trying to check what has been told to me. Thanks for looking. Linda

Hi Linda,
Could this perhaps be the marriage of another of Thomas & Mary's children (source Northamptonshire Marriage Index 1700-1837):
2 April 1730 at Greens Norton Edward SPENCER of Whittlebury & Eliz. INNS of Whittlebury, by licence
However, the INNS surname does not seem to feature at all on the pre 1700 Marriage Index that I have - did they originate elsewhere?
JanetImpatience can be a virtue - honestly!

Thanks Janet, I am not sure about an Elizabeth marrying in 1730. Thomas & Mary had an Elizabeth baptised and died 1686. Then an Elizabeth baptised 1697 - if she is marrying in 1730, she is a bit long in the tooth. But there are lots of Elizabeth Inns - no-one had an imagination with names it seems. Thomas is supposed to have been born in Whittlebury in 1653 and died in Towcester in 1730. I was also given 3 pictures from the back of pack of playing cards depicting clothing styles of 16,1700s. Along the side is written "Pettifer" as if to indicate the brand of cards, there are fantastic pictures and underneath the name and birth/death. One is Thomas, handsome in black, 16353-1730; his father, John Inns 1628-1715; his mother, Mrs Katherine Inns 1630- . I believe there is probably one for Mary as well, but I wasn't given that. All tantalising, but I have no proof to claim them as mine.
