Default Admiral Mountbatten/trawler out of Aberdeen

Looking for help with tracing the captain of this vessel early 1900s. I believe his name was John or James Reid. He may have been born in Buckie.

    Hi Notanother miner

I did find a photo of the boat. I need to consult my 'source'. It may well be that my dates are well off target. Thanks.

Mountbattern, especialy with the Admiral bit added would seem to hint at the Royal Mountbattern which only came into being in I think 1915. As you probably will know the royal family had a German name at the start of WW1 & one of the Royal family was a serving naval officer whome public opinion forced Him to give up. possibly then you should think of a time after say 1915 with regards to the photo, just a thought. Hi Border

I am doing some research for someone from Fraserburgh. The Reid connection is rather problematic as the Isabella Reid I am looking for cannot be found, try as I might. I have a marriage in 1915 and I can follow the family from there. However I cannot find Isabella with parents James Reid & Jessie Noble. Looking for other combinations. We have decided she may have born Jessie Noble but agian, all up in the air. It has been suggested that there may be a connection to a John or James Reid & the Admiral Mountbatten. So perhaps 'your' Jock is the very man. Do any of the names mean anything to you?

There was also a mention of India...not very helpful, but do you know of a connection?

This may all be pie in the sky, but here's hoping it isn't!
I'd love a photo so that I could forward it to my contact.

If you want to send me a private message I'll let you have my email address.

    Cheers for now

    hello perseus,

I have a copy of John aka Jock Reid's Birth Certificate. His father's name was James George Reid, mother Susan Reid nee Murray.
I have photographs of Jock/John I can scan you if like - I can do this next week, of course you would have to give me your e-mail address as there are a few photographs. Jock was born 10 September 1910.

According to my mother, Jock had a brother James who owned Kennedy's Bakery in Aberdeen which has now changed to J. Ross Baker - defenitely a connection with this bakers and there was a Jessie which we are unclear if she was Jame's wife or Jame's Sister.
jock s first wife died ,but he had a daughter and they stayed at birkhall parade ,mastrick in aberdeen. India? cant recall .

I forgot to say his father was a Fisherman which might be relevant to the 1900's.

    Hi Border

    Hi border
Any luck with those photos ?
I did leave my email address in your Private Messages.
All the info I gahered to date is now with the family in Fraserburgh, so I guess they'll be ploughing through it.
It would be great if we could make a breakthrough with the Reids.
    Cheers.
Incidenty I just had a couple of rowies from Aberdeen. My daughter in law always brings some back when she visits her family. I do miss them, delicious but so bad for you!
I worked in Castlegate and there is a little baker which was just under the office. Rowies & stovies were so much the order of the day at lunchtimes.
