    Default Scottish family research

Has anyone ever come across the term "non praptor" in any Scottish records ? I have been asked to assist in finding out what the term means. In this particular case it is applied to two children born about 1858. The document is a list of children maybe in a workhouse. (some children listed as vagrants). Under the heading "name" they are "non praptor" no names recorded. They are recorded as granddaughter and grandson. I could see if the document gives any further details at the next meeting of the local history society if it would help, but I thought it was likely to be a general term if anything.

Where did you find this term written? It looks like Latin, but is not in either of my dictionaries. I think it might be a mis-transcription of "non pauper".
