publican of Woolmet House 1820s and 1830s

My 4x great grandmother, Catherine SALMOND (1786-1849), who married William MCLUCKIE (?-1828), is listed as publican at Woolmet Mains, Newton Parish, Midlothian in the 1841 Scottish census. I'm guessing that the pub/inn was the Woolmet House. Is there any way of looking up who owned/ran the Woolmet House in the 1820s and 1830s? William McLuckie is listed as an overseer of coal work on his daughter's marriage record, but as a publican on the same daughter's death record.

The Edinburgh City Archives should have licencing records. Whizz off an email to them with as much information as you can.

Have you found a specific reference to there being a pub called the Woolmet House? There seem to be lots of mentions of Woolmet House online, but as a mansion that has mostly now been demolished. There's an old map of the area on http://www. old-maps.co.uk/maps.html. The site's gazetteer doesn't include Woolmet, but you will find it if you put in the postcode EH22 1QU. This initially brings you to a modern map, but you can switch to the 1850s map and then zoom in.

I can't see any pubs labelled in Woolmet or the adjoining Edmonston, but that doesn't mean there weren't any.

Perhaps other censuses for Woolmet might name the pub?
