Hi,
We found out sometime ago that my ancestor Jane, had a son called George (illegitimate) and he died at 6days old in New Pentland Scotland.
Does anyone know whether I would be able to find his grave? Would he be buried in 'unconsecrated' ground due to the fact he more than likely was not baptised?
His mother committed suicide a few days later and we assume she would be in 'unconsecrated' ground?
I'm not sure if this is the right word.
Jane. x

I don't know about Scottish graves, but I would guess you'd need to contact the relevant local council and ask them about cemeteries etc. If the baby died at 6 days old he would probably have been weak from birth and baptised immediately. Babies unlikely to live were generally baptised straight away.

Hi Jane
My great grandfather committed suicide and we always assumed he had no grave, and couldn't find burial records.
However, when I contacted the church in the parish where he lived, he had indeed been buried in a "consecrated" spot, so perhaps worth contacting any likely churches or chapels?
