Default 1891 - Cannot find North

On 20 Jan 1923 Albert North and Ethel Smith were married, Albert's address was 26 Kirkbank Street. Oldham.

In 1911 Albert (Snr) and Sarah North are living at 26 Kirkbank Street with their children,
    Joseph 1889, John 1891, Ethel 1893, Jane 1896, Albert 1900 and Sarah 1902.
    RG14/PN1404/SN69

In 1901 the family are at 26 Kirkbank Street, with their children,
    Elizth A 1882, May A 1884, Ellen 1887, Joseph 1889, John 1891, Ethel 1893, Jane 1896, Albert 1900.
    RG13/PN3808/F.42/P.10

Albert Jnr's family were not at 26 Kirkbank Street in the 1891 census and I cannot find them in Lancashire.
Albert (Snr) 1861 and Sarah Robinson 1863 married in Oldham in 1886 so they should be with Elizabeth, May, Ellen and Joseph and maybe John somewhere around there,

    Any ideas please?

    Hi Mutley
So can you / have you searched using only the address in 1891 to see if there is an entry for that address.
They may still be living there.

    Hi Mutley,

Not chatted in a while, hope you are good!

What do you think of these folks, they are named Heginbottom but everything else matches - ie all childrens' names and ages, places of birth etc. Take a look and see what you think. Does Higginbottom and it's variations mean anything to you?

    Hi Graham,

I hope it is the right folks. What particularly struck me was: Elizabeth and May/Mary both have the middle initial 'A' in 1891 and 1901.

I've carried out a search for Higinbottom (and it's variants) marrying a North on Freebmd - I was presented with only 3 results,

Sep qrt 1837, Stockport: William Heginbotham and possible brides Elizabeth Johnson, Mary McCreezy, Maria Ann North and Elizabeth Wild.

Sep qrt 1844, Sheffield: Charles Higginbottom possible brides: Mary Glaves, Ann North, Sarah Rock, Elizabeth Sadler.

Sept 1887, Shardlow: Eliza Hickinbotham possible grooms: George North and Thomas Pegg.

I don't believe Mutley mentioned who the mother and or father of the children born before the marriage of Albert Snr. and Sarah were/was?
    Elizth A 1882, May A 1884,
Albert (Snr) 1861 and Sarah Robinson 1863 married in Oldham in 1886 so they should be with Elizabeth, May, Ellen and Joseph and maybe John somewhere around there,
Perhaps that will get to the bottom of the Heginbottom question

    Goodness me!
Thanks Lizzy, it certainly looks like them, the only real difference is Albert being called Joseph.

On the 1911 census the 'how many years married?' for Albert and Sarah is left blank but I thought maybe they did not know how to fill the form in because the marriage is on FreeBMD. They also said two of their eight children had died.

I am doing this for a friend and have only just received the details of the marriage of Albert and Ethel, I think I need to order the marriage of Sarah and Albert for him. I've just asked him about Higginbottom and he thought maybe Winterbottom but had not heard of any Hegin or Higgins

As regards the two older girls, I'll search further afield and try and get to the 'bottom' of the tail.

I hope the forum is quiet this evening as I think I have some work to do.

    Thank you so much everyone

BTW, I am fine Lizzy, thanks.

LancashireBMD has the marriage of Albert Snr. listed as at St. Matthew, Chadderton, and luckily is one of the many churches around Manchester that has the registers to view on family search.

The marriage of Albert and Sarah is here .

P'S RonOne is a quicker draw than me!!!
