Default PHOTOGRAPH ST Stephen's Church Walworth?

    Hi all

I was just wondering if anybody out there has a photograph of St Stephens Church Walworth.

My hubby's grandparents were married there and as we have no wedding photos I thought it would be nice to include a photo of the church in my family tree.

I have searched the internet and it seems this church was demolished in the 60's and I have only been able to find one very small picture hiding in a pdf document. For the time being I have added this to my tree but would very much like to find another.
    Thank you in advance.

    Kind regards
    Wendy

No real promises, but I hope they come up with a photo proper.

the address SAINT STEPHEN, WALWORTH COMMON: VILLA STREET, SOUTHWARK
    Date(s) : 1866-1960

    Thanks Mutley

I searched Google images with no luck.
I am just hoping somebody has a photo they can share with me.

Since Walworth is in Southwark, Southwark Local Studies ought to be the place to ask, but as Lewisham claim to have a picture, e-mail them first. Both Southwark and Lewisham Local Studies are quite helpful, but I could go to one or both if need be.

From addresses given above, I think the church was opposite the junction of Boyson Rd with Villa St and is shown a bit north of the middle of the E-W canal towards the bottom of this map. The same site has a picture of Villa St, unfortunately without the church.

If that fails, keep a watch on postcard auction sites, especially those like Delcampe which specialise in collectables, as well as the more well-known general one -- nothing there at the moment, but be patient; there are a couple of churches I've been waiting for for years. You could also look out for postcard fairs and spend a few happy hours going through boxes, usually sorted by place name.

You can always try the Southwark Diocese Property Department - they might well have something in their files or be able to direct you to someone who can help. I work for the independent surveyors that they retain and have dealt with this parish many times.

    Hope this helps.
