Where is this place please?

I hope someone can put me straight on this.

I am looking for (wait for it) Edward Jones born Denbighshire, Wales. Not a lot to go on is it?

From the 1861 Census in Chelsea, London he is shown as aged 56, so I did an IGI search and came up with an Edward Jones born 30th May 1805 (about right) in Bo, Ruabon, Denbigh, Wales. Parents Edward & Elizabeth. (My Edward's daughter called Elizabeth Jones). I can find Ruabon on a map which is in Wrexham, but what or where is Bo? Was this a village? I'm clutching at straws here, so would be grateful for any help.

Well....I think I've found where it was thanks Jan.

I looked at the Genuki address and clicked on the Ruabon Church and it said that it also included in the parish, several hamlets, one of which was Bodylltyn. I reckon there wasn't enough room on the IGI programme so they just put a couple of letters in.

Thanks Guy, must admit I hadn't thought of that.....I wasn't thinking in terms of Borough....were they called that in the early 1800s?

There are member submissions for some of my relatives in which England has been enlarged, to include Queen's County, and co. Kilkenny. And I have encountered people who have seen those in the IGI, and will not be convinced that those places are not in England.

About 5 years ago I got in touch with a member who had submitted correct entries on a couple of my rellies. I never did manage to find how she was supposed to be related to them. Just threw them in while she was at it?

It can't hurt to have a look around Ruabon, Glenys. Better than no clue at all. I think submissions were done with PAF. I wouldn't be surprised if it truncates long entries in a field, forcing inventive abbreviations.

True. You can almost overhear the conversations at the FHC, as the staffers assist with the submissions.

"Now, where were they born?"
"They were from England! So where would they be born, Russia?!?"

"Isn't Queen's Co. in Ireland?"
"Nonsense! They were Protestant, not Catholic!"

That's why I have previously missed something....because I am loathe to `discount'
anything that `could' possibly be right....I save nearly everything, and then miss the vital clue because it's at the bottom of a pile somewhere!! Not so now...I'm older and wiser and put everything in my file!! Well nearly everything!
