Default ANGLES (Houghton le spring & Fife)

Does anyone else have an "angles" in their family? Mine originated in co durham, england, and one of the brothers, robert angles born 1786 auckland, st andrews, co durham moved to kinghorn, fife, scotland, starting a whole new dynasty of Angles there. i would love to know his mother's name. only his father's name, john angles, appears in the parish records. i suspect the mother was hannah because some of robert's siblings who stayed in houghton le spring named daughters hannah. also, according to the traditional scottish naming order of children, robert's first son was "john" and his second daughter was "hannah". however, i cant find a marriage for a john angles and a hannah. another complication is that sometimes the name angles is interchangable with angels or anglis or angells. hope someone can help! regards, lynne

    Hi Lynne,

I don't know if you're still looking for this marriage. I couldn't find a Hannah, but IGI does have this marriage which looks promising:

John AUNGLES m Margaret LAZONBY 21 Jan 1777 Aukland St Andrew, Durham

The earliest of John's children I could see christened at Aukland St Andrew was Mary in 1779, so the date is about right.
