I am interested in any information with regard to the illegitimate births of:

Walter Bamford – mother Jane Bamford, 11 January 1862 (Clement Place, Snenton) - the birth certificate has no christian name but all my information points to this being Walter's birth.

Alice Severn – mother Mary Severn, 25 February 1865 (Main Street Hucknall)

They married in 1889, probably in the Radford/Lenton area of Nottingham, I think they were either Methodists or Baptists.

I would be most grateful for any information if either of these names appears in your family histories as I am very keen to track down the fathers.

Walter was brought up by his Grandfather/Uncle? William Bamford (Blacksmith) who lived in Ilkeston (1827 married Mary Booth) - Babbington (1841) - Portland(1851) - Snenton(1861) - Hucknall (1871/81).

I don’t have much information about Alice, however I’m sure she lived in Hucknall ands on the wedding certificate it states father as Joseph Severn, Farm Labourer, but cannot find her on the 1871 census. In 1881 she was a servant in Eastwood.
