Default A Question of Rank and Numbers

Sorry to ask what may well be the blindingly obvious , but would a WW2 Squadron have more than one, at the rank of, Squadron Leader at any one time?

Yes, there's every likelihood. A squadron leader is a particular rank, equivalent to a Lieutenant Commander (RN) or an Army Major.

As such an RAF Squadron Leader would not necessarily be a pilot. Most members of a Squadron were occupied in work on the ground, holding exactly the same rank as their counterparts in the air.
