    Default rheumatism description

I have been reading through an ancestor's Army medical report from 1876 which states that he had to be pensioned off due to chronic rhuematism in both legs.

The doctor states : 2 femoral ???. The word he has written in the space of my questions marks I just cannot understand the handwriting.

Many thanks to anyone who may be able to help me.

Can you copy it it here, via photobucket. How many letters do you think it has?

Could it be shaft, stress, artery, head, neck, nerve, bone?
