JOHN ISAACS- DEBORAH SOLOMON- CRAWCOUR LINK

As part of my continuing research into the Crawcour collateral lines I am grateful for another researcher identifying the potential link between the Isaacs/Solomon and Crawcour lines. In the 1841 census at 52 High Street Chatham Kent the family of John Isaacs and his wife Deborah are recorded. John Isaacs is a silversmith age 50 with his wife Deborah 40 and children Kate; Elizabeth; Rosa 20; Samuel; Fanny; Esther; Abraham. The family can be seen in the subsequent census including 1851 with John; Deborah; Elizabeth;Abraham; Fanny. John is a general dealer. In 1861 the family have moved to Newport where John age 73 is a silversmith with Deborah 68; Abraham 28 silversmith; Phoebe 24 b Plymouth; Lizzie 20 b Maidstone; Samuel and Isaac ( grandsons?- the transcription is difficult to read)

Importantly, the connection to my Crawcour lines comes from the marriage of Henry Crawcour ( son of David) to Rosa Isaacs ( I have put a record of their marriage on a separate Crawcour posting relating to the Australian lines).

The key question regarding the relationships is whether the wife of John Isaacs is Deborah Solomon is the daughter of Nathaniel Solomon and Phoebe de Metz (Mitz).
There are several records relating to Nathaniel Solomon and Phoebe de Metz and the number of children they had was substantial but I have not seen a Deborah. There are references to the family in the Susser Archives.

If any researchers can confirm that Deborah Solomon is the wife of John Isaacs I would be interested in this information.

I have some information which might be a step towards your direction ; Lewis Isaacs of Chatham , brother of John/ Jacob Isaacs[ above] , was married to Catherine Solomon , daughter of Nathaniel Solomon & Phoebe de Metz . I have not seen a Deborah in the list of the children of Nathaniel & Phoebe .

This information is from the book by Michael Jolles , 'Samuel Isaac, Saul Isaac & Nathaniel Isaacs'' The book has a considerable amount of peripheral information , including the Chatham Jewish Marriage Register, which gives your Henry Crawcour 's marriage to Rosa Isaacs 08/12/1847...my ancestor Daniel Isaacs married Selina Levy 01/08/ 1855 also at Chatham .
