Could someone please take a look on Ancestry's London Parish BMB index for the following entry: Burial of Thomas Coote on 1st April 1824 in the parish of St.Bride, Fleet St. What is the word that preceeds Sexton?

    many thanks

I've had some difficulty finding this.

I think you may be looking at a burial dated 1 April 1625, though it's wrongly transcribed in Ancestry's index as 1 April 1824. The image is of a modern transcript of the register.

I'm doubtful that the name is COOTE. I think perhaps it reads COOXE? Given the early date, maybe it's a variant spelling of COX/COCKS/COOKS etc.?

After the name is written Sometimes Sexton.
