Hi
A relative was an Assistant Storekeeper in the Crimean War.
Could anyone tell me please what an Assistant Storekeeper did back then and if there would be any records.
thanks

Hello slanted – welcome to Brit-Gen.
Do you have any further information, please? What is your source?
It may well be that he assisted with the storage of ordnance, i.e. the weapons and ammunition.

Thanks for the replies.
The relative I'm looking for is Thomas Mustard who served from 26th Sept 1855 - 29th July 1856
Sources of information I have is a Discharge notice dated 6th September 1856 which mentions assistant storekeeper
A letter which accompanied a medal granted by The Sultan for service in the Crimea
A personal reference to Thomas Mustard apparently by his superior officer
and an Irish Constabulary record which he was in before and after crimea
see below for copies, i find it very hard to read the writing especially the reference letter - which i can't make out at all !
