    Default Sidonia Hulme

I'm searching for some details for a Sidonia Hulme. Her parents were Jane and Charles Hulme. Sidonia, which on 1871 census is Sidona was born about 1862 in Moxley Staffordshire. I've found she had an illegitimate daughter Edith about 1882. Between 1882 and 1891 Sidonia married Charles Johnson from Burslam. Sidonia turns up again on the 1901 census, this time her name is put as Donah. I cannot find Sidonia's birth record or her marriage to Charles Johnson. Also a Sidona Hulme turns up in the marriage records for 1911.
Can anyone make sense of this, please.
    Thanks
    Susan.

I assume this is the marriage you refer to

    Marriages Dec 1911
    Dunn William Wolstanton 6b 234
    Hill Frederick Wolstanton 6b 234
    Hulme Sadona Wolstanton 6b 234
    THOMPSON Ellen Wolstanton 6b 234

The district is Wolstanton and Burslem

What age was Charles on the census in 1891, there is a death in Wolstanton in 1908 of a Charles age 75.
Where was Edith born. Do you have the birth certificate or is this just from Census data.

If you can post a bit more detail and the source of the information it will help us to help you.

As Sedonia was 11 in the 1871 census and the next child was 7 is it posible that Sedonia was born before the marriage and registered with Jane's maiden name? Just a thought as I have tried all kinds of variations on the name with no luck
Do you have marriage certidicate for Charles and Jane?

This could be the parents marriage

    Marriages Dec 1843
Brewer Jane St. Austel. 20 25
Brooks Jane Ashton under Lyne 20 25
    Holden Jane Ashton &c. 20 25
    HULME Charles Ashton L 20 25
Mellor Alice Ashton under Lyne 20 25
    Moss Abel Ashton 20 25
    Shaw John Ashton &c 20 25
    Wardle Mary Ashton 20 25
    Warrall Attwell Ashton 20 25

Sidonia could well have been in service and the entry was mistranscribed. Not uncommon for such girls to end up with illegitimate children. Their eldest son Thomas was born Bilston. Google maps have Bilston and Moxley 3000 feet apart.

Thanks for finding the marriage Marj. Think that's the one. I don't have a certificate for Charles and Jane. It may be that Sedonia wasn't registered. My Grandmother wasn't and she was born in 1883. Her father moved around so much for his job they obviously didn't bother. Actually this isn't my family. I'm helping a friend out who can't use her computer at the moment.
