    hi all

    with many thanks to others on this forum ,i have progressed to relatives marriage dated 1798 ,between
    joseph mackrill and sarah fox , they were both listed as residents off :

    H.M.E.O.T what does this stand for ?

    can anyone help ?

    M.E.O.T. = Mile End Old Town

    I don't think there is an "H" there.

    thanks peter ,

    anc.... has a H in front ,but mile end fits with all the other evidence etc .

    I don't know what you're looking at. The scan I'm looking at at the moment on Ancestry doesn't have an "H".

    hi peter

    found H.M.E.O.T on anc.. under pallots marriage index 1780-1837 sarah fox and joseph mackrill ,its given as their residence , not sure if it was the workhouse ..

    Indexes simply point us to the original documents which is what I was looking at (specifically the Banns Register, Ancestry don't seem to have got round to putting the Marriage Register on line).
