my great grandfather is down as thomas james hughes on the 1891+1901 census of wales, he was born in liverpool 1879. but on the 1881 census of england he is thomas james simmons.on his marriage certificate his father is thomas henry hughes. but on his birth certificate his father was william james simmons. william or thomas is not on the 1881 census. so between 1879 to 1884 thomas simmons became thomas hughes. i'm having trouble finding a marriage between thomas hughes and elizabeth simmons.how would i find out if he was adopted.
